Our Story

Charu Kalyan was founded by Anurupa Acharya as a tribute to her father, Dr. Kalyan Acharya, whose life was dedicated to serving people with compassion and selflessness. As a doctor, he touched countless lives through his care and humanity, never seeking recognition or building an institution in his own name. His quiet service to society became the inspiration for creating Charu Kalyan — a platform that carries forward his values through meaningful social and cultural work.

Rooted in the belief that creativity can build communities, Charu Kalyan brings together Bengal’s rich artistic heritage and the vision of sustainable livelihood. The initiative works closely with artisans, women’s groups, and rural communities to create handcrafted textiles, home décor, natural products, and cultural experiences that celebrate tradition while creating economic opportunity.
