Our Impact

In villages such as Jharkhali, Basanti, and Chowhata, Charu Kalyan has created a strong community-driven livelihood model by connecting rural women and artisans with meaningful creative work. More than 1,200 women are actively engaged through self-help groups and village-based production networks, enabling them to earn sustainable incomes while working within their own communities.

Beyond these villages, Charu Kalyan has also collaborated with more than 100 artisans across West Bengal to revive and promote Bengal’s diverse artistic traditions — from folk crafts and textile practices to heritage-inspired handmade products. By creating design-led market opportunities, the initiative helps preserve regional art forms while opening wider urban and global markets for rural creators.

This impact goes beyond employment: it strengthens women’s economic independence, keeps traditional craftsmanship alive, and builds pride in Bengal’s cultural heritage by turning local artistry into a platform for collective growth.
